LOSING A FATHER part 1 You lowered your tone of voice, You spoke softly not strong Told me not to worry, I knew then something was wrong. Said you’d be to see a doctor, who wanted to take some tests. As my mind tried to understand, I knew recently you hadn’t looked your best. Weeks passed, with test after test, I tried to ignore it and pretend it wasn’t happening. But with that I spoke and saw you less -- I live with this guilt day after day. You were then sent to stay at hospital,I didn’t even know till after a few days --I will take my guilt to my grave. I walked around the curtain, I couldn’t comprehend what I saw, Your face so pale, your body so thin, was this you?, I couldn’t be sure. Memories flooded from when I was child…. and suddenly my heart filled with fear, And in my daddy’s eyes were tears. I held your hand tight and kissed your cheek --A brain tumour you had to beat. I wanted to scream, I needed to shout, but no words would come out. My knight in shining armour, my hero of every hour, has left this life for somewhere finer. My heart has been broken, my soul is now alone, But not even death will break the bond of love—Between daughter and A Father.
